AMP's Signature Magazine
Wired into the latest on the Internet of Things
About this project
For this commissioned cover and spread, the Association of Media and Publishing's Signature magazine featured an article about the pervasive use of technology within associations and their introduction to the Internet of Things, i.e. smart objects that can network humans even further to other humans and devices. To take a different approach to a trending concept, I combined sculpture and photography, twisting 24-gauge electrical wire to form a complex 'world' of wire and a custom hed treatment. The process of the cover and feature was multi-pronged. I mapped letters out of a matboard base and carefully wrapped wire through the negative space of the type (much to the delight of my cat, Karen). After the initial forms were made, I photographed each piece and combined them digitally to form a seamless page. The client was pleased to have seen a topic so widely covered in associations presented in a unique, sculptural way.
